So after a couple days hiatus, we are back in the shop and already finished a small project! Well, it is more of a two phase project, but a piece has been completed.
Over the past few months, I have really gotten into FROM Software's Elden Ring. During my playthrough, I decided to go with a "faith caster" build. To do this, you require "seals" to cast incantations, and the first one you start with is called the "Two Finger Seal". Because I had it in game for almost a dozen hours, and because it is the corner stone of build, it holds some significance. Not to mention it just looks really cool.
This is what it looks like in game.
So, I wanted to make it, and we ended up going with two versions. The first is a much smaller one that will be a fun little key chain for myself, while also functioning as a test run. Testing for the etching and marking I would need to do for the big version, which is a little larger than my hand.
We programed the plasma cutter for the outlines, and they came out really nice.
Once I got it cleaned up and smooth, we used marking ink and scratched out the parts I was going to try and leave raised.
The etching was a lot more difficult than I expected. At first I tried using files, but that was really slow and I was not able to get certain angles that I wanted. So instead, I moved to a rotary file. This was hard to control and made it come out kind of rough, but for what I was trying to create, I think it worked. A used, choppy piece of magical carving. I am actually very proud of how it came out.
